Sasha, the son of Alexander and Irina, died in 1992. "His name was Sasha, like his grandfather. He graduated from the Institute of Civilian Aviation [as] an Electro-Engineer. He worked in the atomic department. That is probably how he got sick. I wouldn't let him go to the Naval Academy. If his father was still alive, he probably would have. I lost my husband and was afraid to lose my son."
Irina has never remarried. This photo shows a loving mother and devoted wife, who has not wavered from her commitment to the memory of her family.
Thirty-one years after the loss of the K-129, the Russian Navy honored the dead of the K-129 by awarding posthumous medals.
