After the collapse Of the Soviet empire, a new wave of openness emerged. For the first time ever, military men were free to ask questions. One question asked was "Who is this man?" Film recovered and developed by the CIA from the wreckage of the K-129 indicates that he was aboard the submarine during its last voyage. However, nobody familiar with the crew could identify him.
